Fun on the bus still cant cheer up Hakey as Seconds get much needed win

By the mystery man

On a beautiful sunny Saturday the second team looked at getting back to winning ways. Upon arrival in a mini bus the Chew players looked a bit confused but there was method to the madness.

The team arrived with only the two Jon’s being late, Rogers had an excuse as he had to pick up club legend Leigh Iles. Hakey no excuse! Probably was checking the mirror to make sure he was miserable enough. The toss was done and Bris were bowling for the 73rd game in a row.

Second team debutant Josh Pilcher took the new ball and he soon took his first wicket during the first over. Jonny up the other end bowled well without luck and moaned non stop about the captain moving the field every ball.

Wardle got introduced early on and set about his business, getting the other opener out to a catch from Tomo. The Chew best two batsmen then dug in knowing they had to do most of the scoring. Steadily moving the score along to 70-2 with Jacob impressively taking 1-10 off his 8 overs. Superstar Wintersgill then got into the action and bowled superbly claiming 3-30 along the way, Chew were now 90-6. Pilchard and Matt to finish the innings, taking 2 wickets each restricting Chew to 153 all out and maximum bonus points. A good fielding display, 3 good catches from Rogers and 3 run outs including direct hits from Gavin and Smithy (Nick and Ashley) Bris were fairly happy.

The innings started in typical Bris fashion, Nutt out to a great catch, Thomas kicked a wide onto his on stumps and Nick blocked one to mid off. 15-3 and panic set in!

With everyone now padded up it was down to Rogers and Glovebox to steady the ship, slowly but surely eating away at balls and ticking the score over we got to drinks at 70-3. Dodger then started to tee off and took us near the target, some great boundaries was then followed by his dismissal for a well made 48. Sharply and Hakey got a few before giving nice catching practice to the opposition.

Meanwhile Longega at the other end continued to block everything with the occasional one run. Craig came in and with Harry got the extra runs needed to see us home with 3 overs spare, 7 down. Longlegs 41 not out of 138 balls.
A much needed win and 19 points, up to 4th and hopefully more to come.

MOM - Jacob Wardle
Donkey of the Day - Pete Sampras
Quite of the Day - Chew captain “we wanted to keep Harry in as he was our best chance of winning”
