Brislington remain unbeaten as Kay stars again

On Monday night, we turned up at Chipping Sodbury, eying up the size of the square leg boundary maybe 30 yards away from the wicket. After waiting for a while, some small children turned up and we realised this was for the under 11s.

I lost the toss and we were put in to bat. Lou and Jo opened up. After navigating the trenches in the crease, we struggled with a slow start due to some good bowling and a used wicket. Jo was bowled to a good ball, bringing Emily to the crease. They batted well together and increased the rate to get us 45-1 after 10. A mix up lead to Emily being run out for 15. Lou was bowled soon after for the same score and a few more wickets left myself and Ursula at the crease. We got to a partnership of 49 before I got caught for 25, leaving Ursula (19 not out) to take us to 109-7 off our 20 overs.

Katie, playing her debut for Bris women, bowled tight lines to open up, and was very unlucky not to get a wicket. Regular wickets, including 3 almost hat tricks, and great catching stopped Chipping Sodbury from getting ahead of the game, with wickets shared around the bowlers. Sodbury ended on 56 all out after 18.2 overs with Kay pick of the bowlers with figures of 4-12 off 4 overs.

This was one of the best bowling and fielding performances I have seen from the team, leaving us unbeaten this year. Our next match is on Thursday against Golden hill where we will aim to maintain our stay at top of the league.
